SCHOOL ROUTINE

She left EHS in 19721. Daily Routine
(a) School begins at 9.0 a.m. and 2.0 p.m. and girls should arrive during the ten minutes before these times, in order to begin each session punctually. Afternoon School ends at 4.0 p.m. Ely girls and cyclists not staying in the School for a lesson or a club should leave the building by 4.10 p.m. Others will wait with a Prefect until the arrival of their bus has been reported.
(b) On arrival in the morning a Prefect from each bus initials the bus list and enters the time of arrival. Absences should be reported to the Secretary.
(c) At the end of the afternoon chairs are placed on the desks in all formrooms except 4 and 5.
Girls waiting for buses in formrooms will place chairs on the desks before leaving.(d) Departure. Ely girls should be out of the building by 4.10 p.m.
Bus girls wait as follows for their buses: -
(a) Littleport - Room 4.
(b) Prickwillow and Little Downham - Room 5.
(c) Soham - in Crush Hall FormroomOthers wait in the Entrance Hall.
Girls wait indoors until the Prefects report the arrival of the bus to the Mistress on duty, and go out to the buses in an orderly manner. Those in the formrooms sit while waiting.
2. Break
Girls return to their formroom after lesson 2 to replace their books and prepare for lessons 3 to 5, and may then go to the playground. No eating is allowed except in the playground or formroom.
3. Dinner Arrangements
Girls below Form V go out into the field or playground after dinner. In wet or cold weather permission will be given to remain in formrooms otherwise written permission from a member of Staff is necessary. Girls may read in the Library. Those who go to first dinner change into outdoor shoes before lining up in the corridor and move out after dinner through the Changing Room, or if wet or cold to the New Room. Those who go later should change into outdoor shoes immediately after dinner before going out.
4. General Routine
Girls keep to the left in corridors and on stairs. Silence should be observed on the way to morning Assembly, and on leaving, until girls join or pass the Absence Queue.
5. Stationery is obtained by the monitress for each Form weekly before morning Assembly. Exercise books to be replaced should be taken to the Form Master or Mistress for signature on the previous day at 2.0 p.m.
6. Dinner Tickets are sold on Monday morning. Girls absent on a Monday may obtain Tickets at break on the day of their return from the Assistant Secretary.
7. The St. Audreys Way Boundary and that part of the School grounds between the tennis courts and the Downham Road are out of bounds during School hours.
8. Sickness or Accident
In case of sickness or accident . the girl or girls concerned should report to the Assistant Secretary, Secretary or Physical Education Mistress.
9. Lost Property
The Lost Property monitress for each Form signs the cloakroom book at 4.0 p.m. each day. Anything found is placed on the Staff desk in Rooms 3, 4 or 6 and taken to its owner at 9.0 a.m. next day. Unmarked property is taken to the Lost Property Prefect and may be claimed at Break.
